I am passionate about working with children and giving them the best quality of life and care. Family bonding and support is critical to the treatment of a child. A good family-friendly environment is key to a happy and healthy child.
In order for a child to feel secure; it is imperative that the family plays a supportive and understanding role in all treatment that is required. Parents must always be part of all treatment decision making.
Nothing gives me greater joy than a healthy and happy child.

Why did you decide on a career in medicine?
I am passionate to help and assist people and make a difference in a patient’s life. In Paediatrics specifically, I am fond of children and also have children of my own. It is so joyful to be a part of their lives. It is sad to see children that are ill, not able to be themselves and enjoy life as God intended for any child. I therefore strive to help them to the best of my abilities that God gave me. It is my passion to improve their lives and give them back some joy.
Why did you go into private practice?
I went into private practice to give myself a new challenge and broaden my horizon. I worked for almost 9 years in the public healthcare and felt it was time to go in a different direction and work with a different spectrum of patients, where you are part of the patient management and to grow and develop with the child. In public healthcare you regularly see a patient only once and then never get any further feedback or see how the child grows and develops. In private practice this is different.
What do you enjoy most about practising medicine?
What I enjoy most in Paediatrics, is experiencing children getting better. When a child comes to you ill, they are irritated, not smiling and don’t want to play, but as soon as they start getting better, they smile again, play and run around. Nothing gives me more joy than making that difference in that child’s life.
Who are your ideal patients?
My ideal patients are actually families that want to be part of the child’s treatment process. Parents or guardians that want to be involved in the decision making and who are committing themselves to walk the distance with you and trust you as the doctor of their child.
